ULTRASOUND

What is Ultrasound Technology?

Diagnostic ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. Since it only uses sound waves (not radiation, like x-rays) ultrasound is safe for all patients, including patients with pacemakers, metal implants, and obviously patients who are pregnant.

How is Ultrasound Technology Used in our Practice?

Dr. Grabow utilizes ultrasound guidance to ensure 100% accuracy in needle placement for steroid (cortisone) and stem cell joint injections as well as aspirations of ganglion cysts.  Studies have shown that use of ultrasound guidance for joint injections not only increases the accuracy of needle placement but decreases the pain of the procedure as well.

How does Dr. Grabow use ultrasound to Cure Your Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

After your physical exam, Dr. Grabow will perform at ultrasound exam of your carpal tunnel to ensure he chooses the safest treatment for your carpal tunnel. Once he confirms there are no masses or other anomolies involving your anatomy, he will utilze ultrasound during your carpal tunnel release procedure to guide the revolutionary SX-One Microknife system to release your carpal tunnel.

Better than Superman’s Xray Vision

Dr. Grabow’s expertise in Ultrasound Guidance literally allows him to “See the nerves, arteries, and tendons inside your wrist” during your procedure. Because fluid or bleeding does not hinder his ability to “see” with ultrasound, a tourniquet to stop the blood flow to your hand is not needed for the procedure and only numbing medicine (local anesthetic like the dentist uses) needs to be injected. You enjoy a relaxing, pain-free, cure of your carpal tunnel syndrome.

FLUOROSCOPY

What is Fluoroscopy Technology?

Fluoroscopy is an imaging technology that uses X-rays to obtain real-time moving images of your bones and joints.
Have you ever wanted to see what your bones and joints look like when you bend your knuckles – fluorsocopy will show you. If you saw the original Total Recal with Arnold they used a full body fluroscopy scanner in that scene in the movie – if you saw it, you know what I mean.

How is Fluroscopy Used in Our Practice?

Fluroscopy is a safe and cost-effective way to diagnose our patients with injuries or aliments to their bones and joints. With our low-dose fluroscopy system, we can get both stationary and moving images of your bones and joints, while exposing you to a minimal dose of xray radiation (far, far less than what you get with a typical chest xray).
